SEND Community of Practise

The Black Country Careers Hub SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) Community of Practise, work with employers and schools to stimulate more employer engagement for young people with SEND which will lead to better employment outcomes.

As a SEND Secondary School, when you join our Community of Practise, we will partner a business volunteer with you and a trained SEND Enterprise Coordinator to help you develop your careers programme, who will work with you to:

  • Provide tailored support to your school or college's needs
  • Give advice on which careers programme providers, activities and resources have been proven to work
  • Share up-to-date information on how to develop the skills both local and national employers are looking for
  • Liaise with local employers to encourage them to provide work encounters for your students
  • Work closely with your headteacher or senior leadership team to develop a careers and enterprise plan
  • Help you connect with local and national employers to offer more work experiences for your students
  • Share insights on local and national skills needs and career opportunities

Our SEND Community of Practice workshops and meetings will take place every term  with pilot projects for you to get involved in and showcases of  best practise for you to consider.
