Improving the Business Base
Our aim is to support an extra 2,189 companies to start up each year, raise the number or local jobs from 450,000 to 612,300 and increase the total employment rate from 68.7% to 80%.
To help us realise this ambition we have identified five priority transformational sectors to drive this change. They are; manufacturing (including food and drink), transport technologies (inluding aerospace), construction (including building technologies), environmental technologies and business services. Our key initiatives in business are below.
