Virtual event focuses on sustainable construction

The University of Wolverhampton is holding a virtual event that explores sustainable construction and the circular economy.

Following the opening of the new School of Architecture and Built Environment recently at the £100 million regeneration project at Springfield Campus in Wolverhampton, academic experts across three specialist project teams will be presenting at the ‘Building a World-Class Centre for Sustainable Construction’ event on Monday 21st September 2020.

The virtual event organisers are inviting businesses across the construction centre, and its supply chain, within the Built Environment sector including architects, surveyors, energy assessors and all trades and contractors as well as regional businesses from all sectors who are looking to adopt environmental technologies and become more resource efficient.

The event, which takes place between 9.00 am and 11.00 am, will look at plans to create a Centre for Sustainable Construction and Circular Economy that will support businesses in the region.

Professor Mohammed Arif, Head of the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University, said:

“This event will showcase the specialisms that the University is offering now that our new School of Architecture and Built Environment is open.

“Businesses can gain knowledge of the range of advanced technologies available to support manufacturers and businesses in the construction supply chain.

“Our team will be outlining the funded support on offer for various projects as well as highlighting innovative research in relation to a range of advanced technologies which are available to support manufacturers and businesses in the construction supply chain.”

Academics from the Construction Futures Research Centre (CFRC), Built Environment Climate Change Innovations (BECCI) and Environmental Technologies & Resource Efficiency Support Service (EnTRESS) will be presenting at the event and there will be an opportunity to hear from employers who have benefited from the projects.

Anyone interested should book onto the event via Eventbrite.
