Midlands Infrastructure Apprenticeship Pilot - HS2 requests your feedback

HS2 is a huge undertaking, the largest infrastructure project in Europe.

At the peak of construction HS2 will need some 30,000 men and women to design and build the railway, with at least 2,000 apprentices taking their first career steps or re-training on the Programme.

One of the strategic objectives at HS2 is to open up new opportunities for skills and employment in the UK. Their aim is to help the next generation develop the technical skills to not only design and build HS2, but to deliver the project pipeline of the UK’s future infrastructure and to leave a lasting skills legacy for the country.

That’s why, since 2016, HS2 has been working in partnership with other transport sector bodies and employers as part of the Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce to increase the number of high quality apprenticeships in the UK transport sector.

The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) and Highways Term Maintenance Association (HTMA) are supporting this work. They are currently working with Balfour Beatty and BAM Nuttall to develop a trial in the Midlands to consider how businesses across the region can work together to recruit and train apprentices in key roles.

To ensure that this work is focused on the areas of greatest need, on behalf of CECA and the HTMA, HS2 invites you to provide feedback on the types of apprentices that your business needs, and where you would like them to be trained.

To provide your feedback they ask that you complete a short survey, or pass this on to the most suitable person in your business to complete. The survey should take no more than 5 minutes to complete.
