Matt secures a bright future through Working Together

Through Working Together, Bilston Resource Centre, the lead delivery partner of Bilston East, successfully led a security programme in partnership with WINT Select and the Wolverhampton City Council to help residents into employment, and Matt Anson successfully completed the programme and also secured employment with GMS.

Since leaving school, Matt Anson has always worked in the warehouse sector as a general operative and machine operator. However, in 2016, for the first time, he was made redundant and became unemployed.

Matt said: “As I have always been in work I have never had the need to have a CV. All this was a new experience for me and I never knew where to begin until I was referred to Bilston Resource Centre and introduced to the Working Together programme.”

Matt was able to get a CV completed, receive help with job search and also register on to the Universal Job Match website. The opportunity also came up for Matt to complete the security programme delivered through BRC by Wint Select.

Not only has Matt achieved his initial goal of getting a CV, he has also achieved new skills and qualifications in a new sector, which is Security in Door Supervision.

Matt said: “I have always considered going into security, however, I have never had the opportunity to pursue this. The security programme was delivered very well and professionally. Every aspect of the course was enjoyable. I could not have done this without the support of Working Together.”
Danny Wint, the trainer, had this to say about Matt: “Matt was a pleasure to teach and he showed great enthusiasm and commitment to the programme. “He will make a good security officer as he is assertive and attentive to detail.”

As part of the security programme Matt was also interviewed by GMS, a national security company. Matt received support from BRC to prepare him for the interview.

The interviewer had this to say about Matt: “Matt was really strong in his interview. He clearly has always enjoyed being in work and would be a great addition to any business. I would certainly speak to Matt about future opportunities when he has a licence. He is obviously keen to progress.”

Thanks to the support received from Working Together, Bilston Resource Centre and Wint Select, Matt has successfully secured employment as a security officer with GMS. Well done Matt!
