M6 Junction 10 Development Launched

Walsall Council are working closely with Highways England to develop plans to provide a long-term improvement to the M6 at Junction 10 and to showcase this work Walsall Council are organising a business breakfast event.

The event is targeted to businesses who want to learn how the scheme developments will improve economic growth for their business, their employees and the place that they operate in. Event organisers urge business leaders to get in involved to engage in the plans in order to share the benefits of scheme locally, regionally and nationally.

The event to be held on Wednesday 16th October from 8.00am to 1.00pm at the Walsall Council House, will kick-start with a breakfast briefing delivered by colleagues at Highways England and their appointed contractor John Sisk Ltd who will provide a comprehensive overview on the development plans. They will outline how the scheme aims to:

  • reduce congestion, rat-running and queues to create a freer-flowing road network
  • support economic growth by improving access to motorways
  • create access to the Walsall Enterprise Zone sites, attracting new business and development to the area
  • provide a safe, well maintained road network
  • avoid future major maintenance by replacing the bridges now
  • improve conditions for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders at the junction

The briefing will include exclusive announcements from senior leaders from Highways England, Walsall Council and Transport for West Midlands on a range of topics in relation to the Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics. The event will also include a recruitment event focusing on the opportunities within the Transport and Logistics Sector and we are keen to hear the views from businesses on the recruitment and skills challenges that you face and how we can help address them. The recruitment event will offer an excellent chance to meet and engage with hundreds of local job seekers looking for a career in Transport and Logistics.

To register your interest please e-mail walsallworks@walsall.gov.uk indicating the contact details of the person within the organisation that would like to attend the breakfast briefing and also whether your organisation would like to exhibit at the recruitment event which will be from 9.30am to 12.30pm. For more information you also call Rob Beck on 01922 655594.

There is a transport and logistics event on Wednesday 16th October in room 2 of the Council House between 9.30am and 1.00pm.

There will be employers in the sector looking to recruit to their vacancies on the day, including Tesco, One Stop, Midland Metro Alliance, Systems Group and XPO others to be announced.
