Intelligence reports show vital statistics

Economic barometer reports produced by the Black Country Economic Intelligence Unit are now available to download.

The Competiveness Barometer provides intelligence on growth measures, business performance and Innovation. Key findings include:

"The UK economy has shown signs of recovery in 2013”
"There are spatial concentrations of high business density across the Black Country”
"Business confidence is relatively high across the Black Country”
"The Black Country has the largest concentration of jobs in manufacturing of any UK city”

The Strategic Companies Barometer analysis found 622 key firms contribute £5.1bn Gross Value Added, £23bn in annual turnover and 165,000 jobs to the Black Country economy. 

The five transformational sectors (Advanced Manufacturing, Building Technologies, Transport Technologies including Aerospace, Business Services and Environmental Technologies) accounted for 75 per cent of these firms, which are driving economic growth in the Black Country.
