Google Digital Garage on Tour in Dudley

On 14th October the Google Digital Garage on tour will arrive in Dudley to give local businesses the chance to attend a free masterclass and learn crucial skills for the digital age.

Experts from Google will run a seminar and one-to-one mentoring sessions that offer advice and tips to local business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs on making the Internet a growth engine for their business.

The tour is part of Google’s Digital Garage project – a commitment to provide digital skills training to 200,000 small businesses across the UK by the end of 2016.

Government research shows that SMEs with a strong web presence grow more than twice as quickly as competitors, create more than twice as many jobs, and are 50% more likely to sell outside of their immediate region. By encouraging and supporting a variety of businesses to use the Internet effectively, from entrepreneurs and one-man-band start-ups, to larger companies, these workshops aim to prove that, with the right training, any business can become a digital business.

Local MP Ian Austin MP said: "I have always said that education and skills should be our number one priority in Dudley to attract new jobs and businesses so I’m really pleased we’ve been able to arrange for Google’s experts to come to Dudley College for the Digital Garage. The knowledge and experience they bring is a brilliant resource for local businesses and I would encourage as many people as possible to sign up and get involved in this free training. The internet and the digital economy is incredibly important for local businesses. Helping firms get on-line successfully will help local companies grow and create more prosperity and jobs in the Black Country.”

The Digital Garage on tour has been designed to support and advise businesses regardless of their technical expertise – from complete tech novices creating their first website, through to improving an existing website and online marketing.

Alice Mansergh, Director of Google Marketing Solutions for UK and Ireland, said: 'Google's products and free digital training are a growth engine for people and businesses up and down the country. So if you live in or around Dudley and you want to boost your career, or turbocharge your business, please join us at our Digital Garage and talk to our experts. We can help you connect to new customers, help boost your productivity or improve your employability no matter what field you work in.'

Businesses and entrepreneurs in the area can sign up for the free consultations and workshops at Dudley College, The Broadway, Dudley DY1 4AS.
