Call for businesses to donate PPE for carers and other Sandwell Council services

Businesses are being urged to donate spare personal protective equipment (PPE) for Sandwell Council staff.

Donations of fluid repellent face masks and single use disposable gloves and aprons would be welcomed by the council to keep staff safe as they care for vulnerable people.

Tattoo shops, nail and beauty salons, manufacturers and other businesses who use PPE but who are currently not operating or who can spare some are being asked to give what they can.

The PPE is needed to protect council staff while they go about their jobs caring for people in their homes, helping the vulnerable and delivering supplies to the people most in need.

Anyone who can donate should fill in the online form at www.sandwell.gov.uk/coronaviruscanyouhelp

Leader of Sandwell Council Councillor Yvonne Davies said:

“We need to maintain our adult social care team’s PPE stocks for the coming months and any donations are very welcome.

“A massive thank you to those businesses who have donated already.”

Some council services also need paper overalls and hand sanitiser for people who are doing deliveries and working at various sites throughout the day.
