Black Country LEP will showcase investment opportunities at MIPIM

Blog post by Tom Westley - LEP board member:

Renowned for its ability to drive innovation, the Black Country is a first-class investment destination writes Black Country LEP board member Tom Westley as he joins the Greater Birmingham delegation to MIPIM.

Building on the momentum of previous years the Black Country LEP will again be exhibiting at MIPIM 2016 representing Greater Birmingham alongside partners from Birmingham and Solihull.

Set to welcome 21,400 international delegates from 89 countries, including 3,560 investors, architects, planners and developers and more than 360 journalists, MIPIM 2016 provides a fundamental opportunity to make new industry connects and stimulate investor interest.

Renowned for its ability to drive innovation, the Black Country is a first-class investment destination and we will use MIPIM as a platform to launch a mix of development opportunities, all linked to our vision of becoming the High Value Manufacturing City of the UK adding over £1 billion to the economy, bring forward over 150 hectares of land for advanced manufacturing and create over 25,000 jobs.

The start of MIPIM week will see us launch the Black Country Garden City Prospectus, a major opportunity to build over 45,000 homes across 550 key development projects. The Garden City will boost the local economy by £18 billion over ten years transforming perceptions of the Black Country increasing the appeal of the region as a place to live and work and boosting the local construction industry and its supply chain.

Mid-week colleagues from the City of Wolverhampton Council will present Wolverhampton as a city of change, with £3.7 billion investment city wide currently on site or in the pipeline. The team will focus on major development opportunities in the city centre and highlight how the multi-million pounds regeneration of Wolverhampton is creating opportunities for developers and investors.

The final day will see the Black Country launch the innovative High Value Manufacturing City interactive platform, designed to support the advancement of leading manufacturing and engineering opportunities in the Black Country. The interactive platform will articulate inward investment opportunities, drive supply chain development and integration and support major contract delivery though the development of virtual models.

Throughout the week delegates will have the chance to meet members of our team, discuss the opportunities outlined here and find out about the opportunities to invest in our Enterprise Zones, described as the most successful in the UK having already generated £1.5 billion of investment and home to global giants including Jaguar Land Rover, Porsche and Moog.

For the Black Country MIPIM is a fundamental opportunity to make new industry connections and stimulate investor interest demonstrating that the Black Country is very much open for business.
