Black Country businesses make the most of LEP Meet the Funders event

The Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership hosted a ‘Meet the Funder’ event at Wolverhampton Racecourse on Wednesday 29th January.

Over 180 businesses of all sizes and sectors attended to learn about Black Country wide funding streams and met 20 funding providers and advisors, including banks and government-backed funding.

Advice and guidance was provided for businesses to access grant and loan funds totalling over £40M in over 100 one to one meetings throughout the day.

Kevin Edwards of Complex Coldforming Ltd, said, "This has been a fantastic day, we learnt a lot. It was great to have all the funders in one place, and be able to speak with them on a one to one basis. It would be great to see funders working even more closely together.”

Paul Brown, Access to Finance Lead on the Black Country LEP Board, said, "There has been huge interest for the Meet the Funder event with over 180 companies attending, providing an opportunity for face to face meetings with the funders. As the LEP, we are doing our upmost to let businesses know the opportunities being created. We understand that the funding landscape can be confusing and therefore the Meet the Funder events, funding factsheet and support provided by the LEP and partners, all simplify this process and aim to make accessing finance more straight forward.”

Since 2011, The LEP has supported Black Country businesses to access over £25m of funding for projects ranging in value from £20k to £1 million.

The event was staged with the support of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, and saw the LEP launch a simplified approach to accessing funding, with a single expression of interest and all the documentation and information on funds available online.
