Air Tightness Technical Workshop

INVOLVED WITH BUILDINGS AND ENERGY? INTERESTED IN AIRTIGHTNESS?

In association with the Forum for the Built Environment (fbe) trained airtightness testers from the BECCI project team will look at why airtightness is so significant in both new and existing buildings. This technical workshop, held in 3 separate locations will give you the inside story and a chance for FBE members have a go with the equipment.

Did you know?

  • Airtightness can save 30% in space heating bills
  • An airtightness report can give an indication of the air leakage area
  • Minimum airtightness levels are being considered for existing homes in rental sector
By understanding the principles behind air tightness as well as how it is tested, you will be in a far better position to understand, advise and interpret what it means for your clients.

Airtightness is relevant to the fbe community:

  • Energy advisors
  • Architects, Architectural Technicians
  • Construction site teams
  • Facility managers
  • Housing Groups / Sustainability and Technical teams
Content

After a bit of background, the equipment will be demonstrated along with the air tightness testing technique and what an air tightness test actually tells you. At the end of the workshop you will know:

  • How much a leaky building costs to heat
  • How to measure airtightness
  • What equipment is used
  • How to check air leakage paths
  • What an air tightness test doesn’t measure
For Forum for the Built Environment members the invitation to the University of Wolverhampton, BECCI, workshop is free.

As there is a limitation on numbers priority will be given to businesses BECCI has not yet supported.
